I found this to be the best definition of a PLN: n. – the entire collection of people with whom you engage and exchange information, usually online.
I am most familiar with Facebooks since that is how I share information and pictures with friends and family. A PLN can connect you to information very quickly and can help you find people that share the same interests.

Isn't there so much that we can do online now? I have to admit before this class I only used Facebook and not too often! My means of communication is email and my cell phone. There is so much we can do online not only to communicate with each other but learn from each other as well. I still have a lot to learn!
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts Jamie! I think it is nuts how much we can do and how much I have learned in the last three months about the digital world. I have to admit Facebook is in my daily routine and it is on my phone so I am constantly connected to it. I hope that I drive aways from this and use other forms of communication now that I have been exposed to others! :)

I love the aspect that you mentioned that we get to network with people who do the exact same things that we do. Working in my small school I am the only high school social studies teacher. The fact that we can now use technology to bounce ideas off of people who do the same things is great.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine what technology knowledge the kids in the primary grades will graduate with. There are so many tools out on the web that they can use to learn their subjects with. We, however, are the ones who have to jump on the wagon to use them as well. I think your list is a great start. It will be crazy to think what else the PLN will lead us to.
